J'skar's clan used to be located in the Northern Shroud. However due to causes unknown to him his clan's home was lit ablaze with explosions happening all around. Skar suffered from a head injury causing him to forget most of his childhood with the clan, he mostly remembers the fires that took over his home. He woke up in a band of traders bound for Ul'dah, the head trader telling him a figure in heavy armor paid them handsomely to care for the young kit's wounds and to take him to the city to be safe.Upon reaching Ul'dah, Skar was left to fend for himself. He took up as a refugee along the outside of the wall with others, so he started to fight in the Blood Sands once he was of age for food, being a quick learner, light on his feet, and not in league with any guild his fighting abilities caught the eye of a paladin of the Sultansworn.Skar held his shield tight being he wanted to make sure that the flames that took his home and memories would never happen again to anyone else, but upon an escort mission changed his views of Ul'dah and of the Sultansworn.Being a rookie member of the order he was tasked to be with a squad of Sultansworn and Brass Blades to protect a noble's son who traveled to Ishgard on business. During the night a lone figure in black armor and a long single edged blade came to the home that the son was staying in. Skar was tasked with guarding the outside of the home and the figure announced he was there to take the son's head for crimes of sex slave trafficking.They fought and that alerted the other paladins of the order bringing them into the fray, a temporary truce was made while the lone dark warrior provided the lead paladin the proof of the crimes. Together they went to the son's room to confront him.The Brass Blades tried to keep both the paladins and the dark warrior from entering the room but they were pushed aside once they heard screams coming from inside the room. Upon breaking down the door they saw the noble’s son forcing himself upon a young Miqo’te child. Skar, having recognized the child as one of the refugee’s he used to share food with before he became a paladin trainee, flew into a rage. He impaled the noble’s son, pinning him to the wall.The lead paladin ordered the arrest of J’skar, but the dark warrior stepped in, claiming Skar as his new apprentice and from that moment he was now above the paladin’s reach. They were able to walk out from the home without any major fuss, as long as Skar never showed his face back in the city of Ul’dah ever again.J’skar learned that his new found teacher/savior of his hide was a Dark Knight who once was a samurai from a far away land, but their teachings were harsh. Over the years J’skar was able to learn the ways of the Abyss, driving him to be a stronger warrior. However the death of his teacher did bring him pain.They both took up two different missions taking them down different paths. Skar was able to complete his mission with little difficulty, however his master’s path was not so lucky, Skar heard that his master’s escort mission was ambushed and during the fray he ordered his charges to run from the battle. Skar was able to trace their steps and found his master’s body sitting under a tree with his Odenta broken in his grasp, a smile on his lips, and thirty corpses of monsters surrounding him.His master left behind a letter and a key for Skar, the letter telling Skar of how proud he was to have taught him, explaining that the key was to a chest of armor and a great sword he had commissioned for the Miqo’te, and that if he should ever pass away that he would want to be taken back home to the far away land of Doma. Skar respected the last wish of his master and to this day and when gil allows, often visits his late master’s grave out of respect.
